Bunning Borst Enfield & Klein, L.L.P. was established in 1957 under the predecessor name of William Montgomery, P.A. Since 1957 our firm has evolved into a multi-discipline firm and has tried to exceed our clients' expectations with solutions that are custom-tailored to their specific needs. Bunning Borst Enfield & Klein, LLP. is registered with the State Boards of Accountantcy in California, Colorado, Iowa, and Oregon as our firm represents clients in many states as well as internationally. As we have grown and continue to grow, we remain committed to offering our clients a combination of state-of-the-art technology, a thorough understanding of the latest financial developments and unsurpassed financial know-how. The firm is a multi-discipline firm specializing in the areas of financial statement preparation, business and personal financial and tax planning, estate planning, general business consulting, forensic accounting, litigation support, business valuations, tax litigation, audit representation, and management consulting services including budgeting, mediation, dispute resolution and wealth management. PARTNERS

Bernard W. Bunning - Partner
Bernard is the partner in charge of the wealth management advisory group as well as the tax and litigation group. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Ares Capital Group, Inc., a Bunning & Koether owned company. Bernard advises high net worth individuals in the planning of income, estate and gift taxes, retirement, qualified plan distribution, and charitable giving. In addition, he consults with executives regarding compensation planning, qualified and non-qualified stock option planning, and qualified and non-qualified deferred compensation planning. Bernard also advises clients on the planning considerations and tax implications of investments and financial products.

Most of Bernard’s professional career has been in public accounting. He has extensive experience in managing a family retail business and a multi-office accounting firm of which he was the Chief Executive Officer. Bernard has over 30 years of operational, business, and financial and professional experience. Mr. Bunning has successfully defended his conclusions as an expert in his areas of expertise with federal and state taxation agencies, the Internal Revenue Service, and Federal and State Courts.

Mr. Bunning has worked numerous hours with various attorneys and law firms dealing with most aspects of law including Agency and Partnership, Civil Procedures, Torts, Wills and Estate Planning, Corporation and Contract law and Real Property law. His experience includes settlements concerning plaintiff and defendant, as well as expert witness deposition and testimony.

Mr. Bunning’s bankruptcy and insolvency experience includes a strong understanding of the bankruptcy codes, over twenty years of working with clients on insolvency and bankruptcy issues, and numerous appointments to represent tax and accounting issues by the Federal Bankruptcy Court in both Sacramento and the Rocky Mountain jurisdiction.

Mr. Bunning has prepared and supervised the preparation of valuation studies and financial analyses of private companies, including partnerships, corporations and sole proprietorships. He has prepared lost profit analyses, financial forecasts, cash flow analyses, analyses of the tracing of assets, cost and damage calculations, management and business reviews, and analyses and other services requiring his investigative mentality. He has been involved in successful negotiations for the sale of numerous businesses including situations and transactions with banks under the threat if liquidation and foreclosure.

Mr. Bunning holds the following degrees and credentials: a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Master of Science in Taxation, a Juris Doctor (JD), a Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M), and Bernard is currently pursuing a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in financial management. Bernard is a Certified Public Accountant in the states of Colorado, Iowa, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Wyoming; he is also an enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service. Mr. Bunning is certified in Mergers and Acquisitions, and he is also an Arbitrator with the National Association of Securities Dealers, and a Diplomate with the American Board of Forensic Accounting. In addition, Bernard is a Certified Valuation Analyst, Certified Financial Planner, AICPA Personal Financial Specialist, Certified Mutual Funds Specialist, Registered Financial Consultant, Chartered Trust and Estate Planner, and a Chartered Financial Management Analyst. Mr. Bunning also holds the following Securities Licenses: Series 6, 26, 63, and 65, and is a Registered Representative of, and Securities offered through, QA3 Financial Corporation, Member of NASD/SIPC, Investment Advisor Representative of, and Advisory Services offer through, QA3 Financial, LLC, an SEC Registered Investment Advisor.
