Firm History

On January 1, 2013, Burton & Browse is pleased to announce our merge into Bee, Bergvall & Co.

Since its start more than 30 years ago, Bee, Bergvall & Co.’s leadership team – James L. Bee, CPA, Cynthia Bergvall, CPA, and Jennifer J. McHugh, CPA – has built a firm that is highly regarded for its innovation, knowledge and experience in accounting, auditing, tax and business advisory services. Its affiliate, the Catalyst Center for Nonprofit Management, provides management and consulting expertise to the nonprofit community.

Ever since Burton & Browse's founding in 1959,by partners Anthony Burton and Robert H. Browse, we have tried to exceed our clients' expectations with solutions that are custom-tailored to their specific needs.

As we continue to grow through Bee, Bergvall & Co., we remain committed to offering our clients a combination of state-of-the-art technology, a thorough understanding of the latest financial developments and unsurpassed financial know-how.

Professional Associations And Memberships

We are members of the American Institute of CPAs Division of Firms. This organization requires us to undergo a review of our quality control procedures by an independent peer group every three years. We are also members of the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs. As members of these organizations we are required to meet the high standards necessary to serve you.Many of our professional staff serve the community by sitting on the boards of not-for-profit organizations and volunteering.

Kenneth R. Cronlund, CPA - Principal - Specializing in Small business consulting, Business Valuations, and Peer Reviews
Mr. Cronlund, after attending Pierce College, obtained a variety of experience in industry and public accounting before joining the firm in 1965. He became a partner in the firm in 1972 and continues to serve as managing partner.

He is a member if the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of CPAs; is on the Board of Today, Inc.; has been active in community and civic affairs; is the treasurer of Ivyland New Church; and is active in the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce.

Thomas M. Newman, CPA-Principal - Specializes in Small business consulting
Mr. Newman began his accounting career with Burton & Browse after graduating from Lehigh University in 1972. He became a partner in the firm in 1978. Certified in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, he is a member of the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of CPAs.

Mr. Newman manages audits, reviews, and compilations of various commercial, not-for-profit and governmental organizations' financial statements. He is experienced in the preparation and review of corporate, partnership, individual, trust, and estate tax returns. His experience includes advising small businesses and individuals on various management, accounting, financial, and tax issues. Mr. Newman has performed peer reviews on other accounting firms. He is a QuickBooks Accounting Software Professional Advisor.

He has been active in community and civic affairs for many years and is currently a volunteer treasurer for Bucks County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc.

Craig Burton, CPA-Principal - Specializes in Personal financial planning and Small business consulting
Mr. Burton, son of co-founder Anthony Burton, began his accounting career with Burton & Browse after graduating from Hanover College, with a degree in Business Administration, in 1972. He became a partner in the firm in 1981 and is a member of the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of CPAs.

Mr. Burton supervises auditing, accounting, and tax preparation services. He provides many years of auditing experience to the government and non-profit sectors.

Mr. Burton is a Director of William Penn Savings and Loan, a Rotary member for over 22 years and had served as their past president, and treasurer of Wrightstown Friends Nursery School.

Shelley joined the firm in 1981 after obtaining her degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from Rutgers College in 1980. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Laura joined the firm in 1998 as a co-op. She graduated from Bucks County Community College in 1999 with an associate's degree in accounting. Laura received her bachelor's degree in accounting in August 2003.

Cindy began her accounting career with Burton & Browse as a co-op in 1987. She graduated from Philadelphia University in 1993 with a degree in business administration, majoring in accounting and from Bucks County Community College in 1987. Ms. Wharton is a member of the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of CPAs. She represents the firm in the Montgomery County CPA Association, which provides continuing education to the firm.

Christine started with the firm as a paraprofessional in 2002. She attended Bucks County Community College and before joining Burton & Browse obtained a variety of experience in the medical and customer service industries.
