James E Leonard, New York State Certified Public Accountant - business management consulting, litigation support, estate and retirement planning
Mr. Leonard graduated from Broome Community College in 1976 with an Associates in Applied Science Degree in Accounting at the top of his class. In 1978, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University at Albany with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He completed the requirements to become a Certified Public Accountant and was licensed to practice in New York State in 1980.

His work experience is as follows: Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG), White Plains, NY and Stamford, CT offices (1978-1980); Kenneth R. Hancock, PA, PC, subsequently sold and renamed Richardson & Company, PC (1980-1986); sole owner of James E. Leonard, CPA (1986-1999); Member of James E. Leonard, CPA, PLLC (2000-present).

He consistently meets and regularly exceeds the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) requirements of the New York State Board of Regents.

He has also completed the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant's Certificate of Educational Achievement program for the valuation of businesses, including professional practices.

Mr. Leonard's professional practice primarily consists of the areas of providing business consulting services, litigation services, estate and retirement planning, federal and state taxation, and preparation of financial statements.

Mr. Leonard is a member of the United Health Services, Inc. board, United Health Services Foundation board and the Ideal Senior Living Center board. He is also a member of the Endicott Rotary Club. He is a past member of the Broome County Public Library Board of Trustees, the Triple Cities Economic Development Zone board and the Endicott Rotary Club Foundation board. He was also a member, director and officer of the Union Center Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.

Deborah Bernardo, New York State Certified Public Accountant - business consulting, computerized accounting systems, individual and business tax planning
Ms. Bernardo graduated from Broome Community College in 1984 with an Associates in Applied Science degree in Accounting, President's List.

In 1988, she graduated from Binghamton University, School of Management with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She completed the requirements to become a Certified Public Accountant and was licensed to practice in New York State in 1990.

After graduation from Binghamton University, she joined the firm of Davidson, Buccasio & Updyke (now Davidson Fox & Co.), Binghamton, New York. She left Davidson in 1993 to become a partner in Bernardo & Sbarra, Certified Public Accountants in Endicott, New York through 2002. Deborah joined James E. Leonard, Certified Public Accountant, PLLC in November 2003.

Ms. Bernardo is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (since 1991).

Ms. Bernardo's primary areas of practice consist of personal, corporate and fiduciary income tax compliance and financial statements.

Ms. Bernardo also specializes in design and installation of manual and computerized accounting systems, provides installation, support and training for Peachtree Accounting and other software. She has taught continuing education courses on Peachtree Software at Broome Community College.

Ms. Bernardo volunteers for The Women's Fund of the Community Foundation for South Central New York and is a member of the Triple Cities Business and Professional Womens Organization.

Jennifer Warholic
Staff Accountant - Jennifer has been with the Firm since early 2003. She graduated with an Associates Degree from Broome Community College in 1999. She has been working in the accounting field since 1998.

In November of 2003, Jennifer completed an extensive income tax course by H&R Block. She annually attends the Cornell University National Income Tax Course.

Jennifer's primary areas of work consist of personal income tax returns and corporate financial statements. She is also well versed with different accounting software including QuickBooks and Creative Solutions Accounting.

Sandra Pinger
Administrative Assistant - Sandra has been providing professional service to our clients since 1998. She brings over 20 years of administrative experience to our firm. She graduated from Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke, PA with an Associates Degree in Business Management.

Sandra's primary areas of work consist of full administrative support to the staff. She keeps the offices flowing very smoothly and efficiently on a daily basis.

In her spare time, she has achieved a black belt from FMK Karate where she has been practicing for over six years.
